Jose Mourinho's Internazionale could only draw their opening match at home to Bari 1-1, Vitali Kutuzov equalising Samuel Eto'o's first Serie A goal for the Nerazzurri.

Eto'o opened his account from the penalty spot 11 minutes into the second half after fellow arrival from La Liga Diego Milito was fouled by Leonardo Bonucci.

Eto'o was guilty of missing a glorious chance with the goal gaping 10 minutes afterwards, placing his low shot wide of the post - and he lived to regret it when an increasingly adventurous Bari struck in the 74th minute.

Substitute Antonio Langella, who strayed offside too often but nevertheless added an incisive edge on the left flank, was sent down the left side of the penalty area and squared for Belarusian Kutuzov.

He controlled and placed his finish in the corner as Julio Cesar dived out to meet him.

Eto'o was mostly quiet after an exciting early effort, playing a one-two with Milito and forcing visiting captain Jean-Francois Gillet to save with his legs.

Argentine Milito almost scored on two occasions in the first half, volleying over from a lofted Patrick Vieira ball through and seeing a low deflected cross dart behind Gillet and along the goal-line before racing to safety.

But it was Bari who could have snatched the three points on the counter-attack, a Kutuzov strike tipped round the post by Brazil's Cesar before Argentine Emanuel Rivas blazed over in injury-time with the Inter defenders flailing.

Juventus recorded a 1-0 win over Chievo in their opening match in Turin, Vicenzo Iaquinta heading the winner in the first half from a cross by promising debutant Diego.

Chievo created chances and looked capable of taking something from the game, but Juve held firm - and also struck the foot of the post through Amauri from 20 yards.

That was also created by Diego, who left the field to an excellent reception from the home fans late on.

Iaquinta should have doubled the lead before the break but could only head Amauri's cross against the legs of away keeper Stefano Sorrentino.

Luciano and Giampiero Pinzi were the main danger to Juve on the counter-attack, while captain Sergio Pellissier in attack was well marshalled by Giorgio Chiellini and Fabio Cannavaro.

Zdenek Grygera also put in a couple of important last-ditch blocks in the danger area in the second half.

Genoa, fifth ahead of Roma last term, beat their rivals 3-2 in a thrilling game and promoted Parma drew 2-2 at Udinese.
