Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso believes there is nothing wrong with Marcello Lippi’s predictions ahead of the start of the new campaign.

The Italy boss was strongly criticised by Jose Mourinho, who claimed his comments were out of place and highly disrespectful.

“Lippi didn’t say anything strange,” claimed Ringhio. “It is just normal that he hopes the best for his own interest. After all he has six or seven national players at Juve while at Inter there is only Marco Materazzi.” he argued.

Regarding footballers’ wages and Silvio Berlusconi’s advice to reduce it, Gattuso had also something to say.

“I thought it was excessive to claim footballers should reduce their wages up to 50 per cent,” he said.

“We didn’t make the contracts ourselves. Clubs negotiate them and agree to them so it is not our fault.”
